Smiling Moon

Last night we had the Cheshire Cat smiling over our rooftops, with the morning star shining above it like a big bright eye. All felines from that part of England are known to be very happy due to the large amount of milk the region produces (hence the smile). I remind the children of this little known fact every time the phenomenon repeats itself, the jeering crescent. Also, that ‘Croissants’ were supposed to be pastry crescents when they were invented in Austria, of all places, and the word simply morphed as it moved to France.
