On Saturday, a heavenly muse announced that she was taking me somewhere; quite happily, I obliged to her designs, which led us to the nearby apple orchard, to a large new building with modern fixtures and a spectacular view over the hills. Above the vast landscape, the cloudy skies made way for a few celestial sunbeams, like in a scene from ‘Out of Africa’. Two of her cousins happened to be there – we laughed and exchanged pleasantries as we downed our cheese and crackers with sparkling cider. Later, at the local tavern, we got to enjoy watching some pretty girls perform folk dancing and music. Towards the end of the evening, we took to exploring the underground recess of an old speakeasy, just after devouring the best part of a delicious lamb stew, chicken pot pie and fritters, with cold ale for me. Oh, let all weekends be like this one!
